What is it?

The "arts & crafts" area could easily be split into a bunch of different areas and it definitely provides the most variety of mediums and associated skills.  But in general, crafts are things that tend to be decorative, but not at a cost of usefulness.  For example sewing can be used to create things that are strictly to be admired (ornaments, quilts) but can also be used to create incredibly useful things (clothes, bags.)
